Empowering the Youth of Trinity County to forge their own pathways into the future.
Upcoming Events!
Join us for the upcoming Klamath Mountains Workforce Training workshops! Youth and young adults (ages 15-24) interested in natural resource career paths are invited to attend three workshops in three different locations. This is a paid opportunity with travel stipends available. No previous experience is necessary.
The workshops will be held at the following locations, encompassing the following topics, on their respective dates:
- October 18-19, 2025: "Beavers and Trails" in Etna, CA
- January 5-6, & 12-13, 2026: Online evening GIS skills training (remote)
- May 2-3, 2026: "Plants and Fish" in Forks of Salmon, CA
Learners will network with professionals, engage in hands-on learning focused on our unique ecoregion, earn work experience and community service hours, and connect with like-minded youth from throughout the north state.
This workshop series was made possible thanks to extensive collaboration with our partners Bigfoot Trail Alliance, Scott River Watershed Council, Trinity County Resource Conservation District, Salmon River Restoration Council, Ascend Wilderness Experience, and our fiscal sponsor, the Watershed Center.
2025 Accomplishments

Medical Career Exploration. Students interested in medicine were able to job shadow ultrasound technicians, physical therapists, and visit the Shasta College Nursing School campus in Redding.

Career Readiness: Following Instructions. 72 young learners across Trinity County built their very own birdhouses to better understand the feathered friends living in their backyards! This activity was made possible by the Bigfoot Trail Alliance.

Career Exploration and Exposure. The 2025 College and Career Expo consisted of 43 vendor booths and was staged in the Shasta College Trinity Campus parking lot, catering to 150 students from 8th through 12th grade and 28 adult job-seekers. Shasta College, Trinity County Health and Human Services, and the SMART Workforce Center made this year's event possible.

Job Readiness and Employability. Mock interviews were held for 63 Hayfork High and Trinity High seniors to hone their employability skills.

Utilities Career Exploration. 15 students interested in lineman and utilities work attended a demonstration with local Public Utilities Department employees to get their hands on the gear and equipment used in the trade.

Local Employment Exposure. The Trinity Lumber Company graciously hosted a cadre of students so that they could tour the lumber yard and mill in Weaverville.

Science Labs. Students conducted hands-on science learning by dissecting frogs, bovine hearts, and extracting DNA from onions, bolstering confidence in medical fields. 20 school visits have thus far been completed.

Law Enforcement Career Exploration. Interested juniors and seniors learned about law enforcement careers from a CHP officer and a USFS game warden.

Science Labs. 50 GSK Science in the Summer students repaired "broken bone" foam rods to learn about orthopedic medicine. Other activities included measuring Vitamin C concentrations and learning how epidemiologists follow the spread of germs.
We build relationships between schools, student-led groups, and nonprofit organizations to cultivate the next generation of workers in all fields.
Trinity Together is fiscally sponsored by the Watershed Research and Training Center, which helps us serve Trinity County youth!
